Hilda Elizabeth Hawkins Terrell was born September 25, 1931 in Monroe County, MS to Evell Ray Hawkins and the late John Edison “Pete” Hawkins. Hilda attended Sulligent High School. She spent her entire life caring for her family and others. Therefore, her career spent working as a nurse’s aide at Lamar Regional Hospital, Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin and Care Center of Vernon, couldn’t have been a better fit. Rooms were always filled with laughter, smiles were abundant on faces and conversations were never dull when Hilda was present because she never met a stranger. Hilda also worked at Little Chloe’s Beauty Shop and McCoy Manufacturing in Sulligent. She loved life and never sat still. When she wasn’t nurturing people, she nurtured her flowers. On April 2, 2013, her work on earth was done. Hilda went to rest with her creator and savior, Jesus. She has left behind a legacy, one that will never be shared without a smile.
